Lore is still their best. This was fun though.

I can't see this holding a candle to Lore... even after I give it some more spins. Feels too weightless for what it is. Needs more punch. More memorable grooves.

As someone from MA, I still don't have an excuse for not listening to this band, and I still don't know why I avoid it.

Back when this site was just commenting on this new album's singles there was a lot of hate towards the vocals, saying they're kind of shite. Reading these comments it seems to confirm the fact that the vocals are pretty shite, but tbh I liked the vocals in previous albums (liked, as in didn't hate them).
I am hoping that they don't ruin the album? Is it a question of production? It is the same singer, so I find it hard to believe he just forgot how to make noises in his throat.

Off of the singles I said the same, Its not a mixing issue per se they just 'sound' really flat and slightly off and I also have had no problem with his vox in the past when loads have moaned about them. DIdnt hit me hard on first listen which is the first Elder not to do so. The keys are great on it though.

Fairly great record, but it doesn't stack up to their last two releases.

i dont get the vocal complaints, theyre not any better or worse than most bands of this type.

Vocals have never been spectacular, but I'm entirely sure whether one should focus on those with this type of music. They're certainly not offensively bad.

Depends what you're willing to pass over listening to an album. If I listen to any record and don't like the vocals i find it pretty hard to just ignore them. Easier with stuff like Elder which has large passages of no vox of course. Im not offended by them either but in parts they make me go 'urghh' they just seem 'off' and Ive never had that problem before. In fact always thought they fit well. Cant quite put my finger on it on what it is exactly tbh
'Halycon' and 'Embers' are dope. Last tracks solid but the first 2 just dont grab me after a second listen. Will still be listening many times more though to see if they land.

I really enjoyed Reflections..., Lore, and Dead Roots Stirring. Can't wait to check this out.

Damn I still gotta jam.

Yeah, the first two tracks are the lest memorable of the lot, but Halcyon and One Light Retreating had tons of holy shit moments for me.

They are simply off tune Deez...I feel like being them vocals so up front on this, gives me that punk-rockish feel I kinda dig.

The vocals were the primary pitfall on my first spin of this. They're not terrible, they just sound like they don't mesh well with the music (to me). Will certainly be willing to alter that interpretation with additional listens.
