brand new are a really great band. they are pretty much the only emo band i like. i do think that your favorite weapon was better but it's only because i intened to prove that underground and diy music is alot better than main stream afi is an example of that.

I continue to be stupified by this board. A completely talentless, grabage sounding pop-punk album like deja entendu get's this positive reaction, and if someone even mentions the name hoobastank, everyone starts yelling?
Not that hoobastank is great or something, but every band on the planet has more talent than Brand New. I got their first album, it was ALRIGHT for pop-punk, but alright means a 2.5, and this album is no better than the first, maybe worse. they sure don't deserve a four, and definitely not a friggin five like everyone here seems to want.
I mean, their drummer sucks--I can do pretty much everything he does with one stinkin' hand--their guitar is ridiculously easy, their bass--well, I'll admit it, I don't really know anything about bass...
And did I hear someone even MENTION that their lyrics are good? Their lyrics have no rhyme or reason, are all about stupid break-ups, and every song is SOOOO repetative. I mean, come on!

First off, the reason I love Brand New is that their music is honest and you can tell he means everything he does.
Secondly, what you said about their music being easy...Shut the hell up and go listen to Dream Theater. The point of their music is not to show off ability, it is to convey emotion.
Oh, and I am a fan of all of those bands except TBS, I don't know if I like them yet.

Hmm... I don't mind easy to play music. I listen to plenty of bands that at least have simple songs. My problem was simply with the fact that this board generally condemns simple music, until it comes to a band with music as simple Brand new, when they are suddenly great.
"Convey emotion"? Are you serious? The only emotion that comes to mind from their lyrics is boredom--they say the same thing over and over again.
Not only that, his voice is so annoying... And it doesn't have to be. I really like the way his voice sounds in song 8 on YFW. Maybe that is a different singer? but it sounds a lot better than his normal voice.
And yeah, I have been thinking of listening to dream theatre...

Yeah, because to like one band and dislike another is hypocrytical. I am not making fun of this band. I really don't mind them that much. I'd rather listen to them than just about any other pop-punk EMO band, but I was only wondering why it is that a band like this--clearly less talented than a band like Alter Bridge, no matter you like them or not--gets such positive reviews, and Alter Bridge doesn't? I guess I can't complain too much. Most of the people on my review now agree with me...
Second, do you really think AB sucks, or do you dislike them because you dislike me and I like them? ;-)
Anyway, I didn't mean to dis Brand New or anything. If you find their lyrics emotionally moving, more power to you. I'm just a little confused, that's all. But seriously, I've got nothing against Brand New. They ARE a punk band, so they don't really need to be good at their instruments.

I never once got mad because someone bashed my review. I never once got MAD, for that matter. Maybe it seemed like I did (no inflectiopn of voice, hand gestures, etc. online), but I wasn't. I argued my case for why I though Alter Bridge had made the best album I had ever heard, but I wasn't MAD.
And also, I did not come in here bashing the review. I came in here bashing the board. If he thinks this album is great, that is his opinion, I won't argue. But the BOARD IN GENERAL seems to be playing hypocrite here. His review was actually very good. I didn't agree with it, but it was good.

You're so dumb. I'm saying Rollerqueen likes this band. And you like Alterbridge. You both like ****ty bands that alot of people don't like. So when someone comes and makes fun of your band you get angry and defensive. So why would you want to do that to someone else's band?
All you accomplished by posting in this review was to demonstrate how much of an *** you are. If you don't like the band that is cool, but don't go into the band's thread and make fun of them because it'll just result in arguments.
