I started reading Mark Fisher a few years ago, an early fan of Burial, and contextualized his music within his zeitgeist of hauntology (his capatalist realism variety of it).
it's emergent and trancedends all acoustic elements.
jesus fuck do you get my eyes rolling sometimes Let lmao. but this is a pretty reasonable (albeit pretentious) way of reconciling Burial's massive acclaim.

*he* contextualized. By b. Well it did lead me to giving Burial another chance

"recent reviews by this author" was a laugh
you're dead! indeed
I prefer "re-tasked with a new narrative" but fair point. Is method reviewing a thing?

I feel like this would've benefited from having some ass in the beginning. Very demanding of commitment. Slow-burning mood.

"I mean something wholly new. We're very good at appropriating archetypes based on what we know, on what's been around for years and years."
Eh, I don't personally buy into this dichotomy. This is dictated by your place in time. Things that are "wholly new" are literally created every second. Now, there are many influences today, surely many man-made creations are influenced by that which surrounds it, but whose to say there weren't an abundance of influence two thousand years ago, the ages from which we take so much? The creation tales being mere markings of a past time when some genetic experiments (*rib of Adam creating life w Eve, sounds like experimentation to me) brought new life into the world for the first time in God knows how long? Where do these archetypes come from, eh? Just my two cents.
In two thousand years we will be looking back on how new and brave this cyber-culture was, and its creations. There is nothing new under the sun! Yet, there is.

Ey, haha. I love ambient tunes, but I guess my expectations turned this into a chore. It's well done, though.
