"At the very least I think it's his most realized project yet. Like his technical abilities have finally caught up with his imagination".

Dev said it. This guy really has become a superb producer.

Pots, I know you said Ruinism hits you with a lot of nostalgia but do you seeing this taking top spot at all? I truly think this is the best thing he's done. At the very least I think it's his most realized project yet. Like his technical abilities have finally caught up with his imagination

On a technical level it's very possible.

On a personal level I don't think so. It's a bit of a cliche the whole "THIS ALBUM SAVED MY LIFE" thing but Ruinism is the closest any album has ever been to making sense of that sentiment. It just happened to come out at the right time, explore the right themes, and have the right atmosphere for a period in my life where long-term issues with mental health really caught up to me and I spiralled out, hit rock bottom, then figured it out and turned it around for the better within a very short period of time. Ruinism basically soundtracked that, and I doubt I'll ever go through an experience as dark, turbulent, chaotic, and - at the end of the day - life-affirming as that time was. My life is pretty normal, stable, and domestic now so the trade-off for not being an absolute mess of a human is that i don't have the potential for the same kind of emotional discharge that made Ruinism so personally impactful rather than just sonically.

So as much as I adore this and can agree that it's his most realized project yet, it's ultimately circumstantial that Ruinism will probably always be my favourite.

can't decide if Limb to Limb or Momentine is the best cut here. I have to listen to this whole album straight through every time because it feels so cohesive and the song structures feel more natural that way. That said, wow those two songs are so good

Yeah he even said that about the album. He was very focused on how the songs work with each other and flow into each other etc. Most of it is hard to seperate from its context

"Most of it is hard to seperate from its context"

I think this flows very well but I honestly disagree with this statement. I can put any of these tracks on at any time and enjoy them, and it was the same when I was first getting into it

I'm definitely not saying you cant, I'm just affirming that it's a very tight, cohesive picture where the pieces elevate each other on the whole
