If I'm forming a band it's 100% Petrucci due to his songwriting ability yeah, but just watching someone solo and doodle....Sfogli. His phrasing and style is unbeatable. Watch him doing "Sunset Lights" on youtube, it's like the pinnacle of rock guitar playing to me. Pure class, melody, diversity of playing, some technicality, etc. etc

Better phrasing than Guthrie?
I think Guthrie and Steve Morse are probably the most complete guitarists I've seen

Sfogli is great no doubt. I had the privilege of literally sitting 3' away from him in a tiny but classy club on Long Island, when they were on tour for Elements Of Persuasion. He is an awesome dude as well, having had a non-formal meet and greet after the show.

Ray's vocals are just amazing. So warm... nostalgic...
"wait" is a great tune, some instrumentals are great, but I'd love to see some of this melodies and Ray mixed with Redemption again...

The type of album that's perfect to listen after a long, exhausting day. Warm yet melancholic songs and Ray's voice is still sounds so good after so many years.

He has better control over it even with his lower range. He comes up with so many catchy and memorable vocal lines. Really looking forward to the new Fates

Definitely looking forward to the new Fates Warning album. I really like this album, but I do wish he had stepped outside his comfort zone, though.

Still no word on a release date for it though, bah humbug!

What The Water Wanted gives me major Gothenburg metal (Soilwork-ish) vibes. Really great chorus
Have a feeling I'm going to jam this properly when the new Fates is out
