Doof - listen again. “ I'm going away / Where you will look for me / Where I'm going you cannot come / No one's ever gonna take my life from me / I lay it down / A ghost is born” is a top 10 Wilco moment, maybe top 5.

5/5 Wilco songs:

Misunderstood, She’s a Jar, How to Fight Loneliness, War on War, Jesus etc, Ashes of American Flags, At Least that’s What You Said, Impossible Germany, One Sunday Morning, If I Ever Was a Child, Quiet Amplifier

If there’s one criticism I have of Wilco it’s they’re lacking in 5/5 classic songs for me

Never the most dynamic band but that album is so one paced/one toned - ploddy

Schmilco’s got more variety than this album does :-/

Very weird hill you've chosen to die on, boney.
Not like I'm one to talk, but still.
You've got to ask yourself: is Wilco worth it?

I don't think I'll ever bond with 'Sky Blue Sky' or 'Schmilco', listened to both at least ten times and barring a few songs on each nothing much else transmits

10 listens is a mere smudge, it’s all about the extension of time and what you’re listening at the material time.
Some of this shite takes years.

Looking forward to this.

P.S Shmilco is absolute class.

But then also there are albums you return to over the decades and you go 'ah,,,still no'

'Sky Blue Sky' was a mid-level disappointment

Not Radiohead 'Amnesiac' disappointing but the next rung down

Band has operated on a 2.5-3.0 basis for 15 years, I doubt this one's gonna break the mold for me. I'll happily admit defeat if it does.

Any individual songs that break the 4 out of 5 barrier Sandwich?

Ehhhhhhh, none I remember.
Maybe something off the Whole Love?
Telling of how little I've cared about Wilco this decade

Great album! I love how these guys find new ways to sound interesting. The album feels like it's going to burst at any minute, but almost never truly does.

This album really surprised me and has a solid flow to it. Might be the best they've done since Yankee Hotel Foxtrot though I really enjoyed the Whole Love. My love for Sky Blue Sky is mostly because that's the first album I really listened to them when it came out. I can objectively say now that its not great and it does have a very 70s classic rock sound. Probably the most 'Dad' rock album they made.
