Can’t believe all of you hate this album! Fucking awesome album, makes me smile when that guitar hits my soul in Harder.

" Definitely not to the level of their last one, but also better than everything else since Untouchables."

Switch "last one" with Paradigm and I agree. Anyway the more I listen the tighter it sounds, probably a honest 3 for me. It's just tight, catchy and with enough cool sections to keep it afloat. Plus it's just hard to not appreciate Luzier despite his robotic feel. One thing I really miss though is the thickness of the guitars, see Mass Hysteria or What We Do compared to This Loss.

also somebody uploaded the DR14 vinyl master (not a rip!) on rutracker if anyone is interested

Honestly, I created an account to this garbage site just to write this. Can?t begin to describe how much I like this album. Holy wow. The past year Davis has had its unimaginable how he hasn?t ended up like Chris Cornell or Chester. But this album shows his exact emotion. Period. And sure you know you can say Guitar is recycled so is many albums guitar work outside of korn where do you draw the line? But when you subjectively have a listen forget last korn. This is a SOLID album you don?t stray far from the point that is being made by the album. And as a guitarist for 15 years the guitar work is amazing. You get the feeling of joy when that guitar hits you HARD in these tracks and shit I?m outside in 100+ degrees and suddenly I?m smiling just from these riffs and how well it?s mixed. They did a wonderful job and you can tell they took their time on this album. I?ve given it several listens quite honestly 5 listens per day. The review on this site is a HOT GARBAGE review. They came out with it THE NEXT DAY. Can you honestly say you appreciated every album/song at first listen? No especially when your thinking of past songs and that?s all that?s in your head. You lose your focus that your looking at new material vs. sitting down and constantly comparing as if it matters it?s a brand new album with a brand new set of issues in the writers life. If I could give it more then a 5 I would. But I can?t... Almost every review I?ve read from this site?s writers is garbage. Hot HOT garbage

New copypasta please

Jonathan singing to the verses on "The Darkness is Revealing" is really unfitting

I'd prefer revisiting this than the last three Korn albums if or when I do. It's pretty consistent and well rounded, just not as powerful or memorable as some of their other albums.

The Serenity of Suffering is definitely better than this. The first three tracks on it are some of their best songs since Untouchables.

I really don't get the universal boner for Serenity, it isn't particularly better musically (you could even say the opposite in certain aspects) than either III or Paradigm or this for the matter in my eyes. It's just cheesier in its heaviness and people ate it up.

Note that I like all four more or less.

III is horrible. Serenity beats it no contest. Paradigm is alright. SOS is better.

"III is horrible"
I don't see how except for JD being very annoying in places. Luzier for instance rules hard and the song structures aren't as predictable as what they did after. Randomly hated album.

"Serenity beats it no contest"
Between the plastic-sounding heaviness and the overabundance of arena choruses I don't see how there's no contest, even though as a whole I think I agree.

"Paradigm is alright"
I think it's still their best since Untouchables today. It has an unmistakable Korn sound but it's more colourful than usual with many quirks (middle part of What We Do, crazy shaman chanting in Lullaby, etc). Never Never is a misstep though.

Sorry I just like to defend this band haha.

I will always love KoRn but after issues they lost what made them special.

I like The Nothing slightly more because the filler tracks don't annoy or bore me as much as the filler tracks on Serenity of Suffering, which admittedly does have very good standout tracks.

@qwenta Weird take here but the way I see it, Korn, Life is Peachy, Follow the Leader, Issues, Korn III and maybe SYOtOS are the nu-metal classics Korn has put out. I know I preach Korn III a lot but I don't see enough people talk about it. JD talked about how much of him it took to get the vocals out for that album, how much he was pushed, and it shows to me. It takes a certain type of person to understand why SYOtOS is so good so I won't defend it much but I still see it as unique enough to call it a classic even though the last third is kind of bad.

It's probably surprising to not see Untouchables or TaLitM in my list because some of Korn's best singles are on those albums, but the bad tracks really drag those albums down.

My favorite Korn song is actually on Korn III. It's called The Past, rarely mentioned but the whole album is filled with those types of heartfelt songs. So for the "last good Korn" meme my vote goes to Korn III.

Korn made their choice to follow a different path with The Paradigm Shift. TPS, TSoS and The Nothing sounds similar, that three records are their new path. Heavier than most of their records (much thanks to beast called Ray) and involvea much more catchy melodies. And between those 3 records, I believe The Nothing is the best. Heaviest, most emotional and catchier. The idea was TPS, the maturity was TSoS, the perfection is TN.

I see that this is the most divisive album of the year.

You guys are mostly saying that the title of this album represents its quality, but personally, it represents what it leaves behind in me. A bewildering void.

There's even a shitty AMV made out of one of the "acceptable" tracks on here:
