Extraordinary Girl is probably my favorite out of the middle tracks. I like it more than St. Jimmy.

A necessary retrospective review. Love it. This is a definite 5 for me at heart, no matter what I have it rated at this moment (guess I'll find out here in a sec). Before this album, I listened pretty exclusively to Weird Al and then whatever my parents played ("Once on this Island"/Motown classics/James Taylor); after this album, I was on a journey that's still ongoing. This thing's a goddamn memory palace

I'm beginning to question my 4.0. It might be a little low because this album truly is amazing and held up really well.
This is what happened to me last night. Originally had at a 4, saw the thread bump, started reading and remembering the songs, relistened to nearly the entire album again (first time in years) and bumped up to 4.5.

This was one of my most played albums when I was first getting into music, as it was for many I imagine. That said, it's hard for me to listen to it because it's so overplayed in my mind. I still respect it a lot though. Band should have quit with this.

Sooooo why is Homecoming so beloved? Don't get it.

The first two or three minutes of Homecoming are the best thing on the album

listened today for the first time in full in a while. I don't think I ever appreciated Are We The Waiting as much as I should have. Extraordinary Girl is still the only weaker track, and it's still not bad.

Everything here is solid.

Agreed. Everything is good to great, just to varying degrees. I’d probably give one or two songs on here a 3, but the rest are mostly 4-5.

Agreed. This album never fails to entertain me either.

I feel like I need to take my CD copy to the car tomorrow and start bumping it in full on my way to and from work the next few days. Listening last night for the first time in years really hooked me again. I had forgotten what a bunch of these songs even sounded like.

See? I’m just sitting here at 2 in the morning, chilling with a beer after work watching the Kingdom of Heaven director’s cut and had the sudden urge to grab my AirPods and listen to Jesus of Suburbia full blast.

Man, fantastic review. I can only assume how big this was when it came out in the U.S, but it definitely resonated down here in Australia too. One of my favourite concert memories is Soundwave 2014 when these guys played a 3 hour set. Was an incredible experience.
