This is a fantastic record and it's fairly obvious the band are big thrash fans themselves, not "genre tourists". This is a legit thrash album that could easily fit right in with early Metallica, Motorhead or Voivod no problem. The songwriting, hooks and energy put this in the upper echelon of this decade's metal albums for sure

Considering that half of this sounds like a somehow more underwritten version of something The Sword could have written like a decade ago, no, not really. In fact, if the latter had released this album, I bet literally no one would have cared.

that's what thrash sounded like in like '83 tho, so they're right that this could fit in with proto-thrash back then.

So the best King Gizzard could come up with is a piss-poor alleged facsimile of early '80s "proto-thrash" and that's one of the best modern thrash metal albums to you? Pathetic.

Lol I remember when I was 16 and still thinking my music elitism meant fuck all. It's a great album on its own merits regardless of whatever unpronounceable black metal kvlt shit you listen to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not black metal. Try all the better thrash metal albums to have come out in the last decade. Maybe try knowing the taste of the other person before running your mouth.

If anything, most of this is more like The Sword and if that band had released this album, nobody (including you) would have given a fuck. King Gizz's name on it is the only reason anyone cares.

Duh, I care because it is actually a good mix of old-school thrash and(!) stoner. I really hate some other King Gizz' albums, but this one is pretty good.

Literally don't know or care who The Sword is and this was the first Gizz album I ever heard. It's just a well-written album with catchy songs and your opinion is just that, fuck off

Imagine listening to Mars for the Rich and Organ Farmer and being blown away by it when early Metallica and early Voivod are your points of comparison.

Voivod's first two albums eat this one's lunch. It's almost comical comparing the two.

yeah i did get annoyed by an irl friend who said this was in his top 5 thrash records, its barely thrash lol. but on its own its a fun little garage rock record with some nods to kill em all (and basically nothing else)

but yeah i mean pretty much every thrash record with a cool album cover released betweeen 1983 and 1991 is probably cooler. i prefer like, spacier gizz but i wish they leaned a little more prog
