I thought 22, A Million was really good but something is missing here for me

Just saw him in Minneapolis (ok, St Paul). It was one of the best sounding shows I've heard. Great visual displays. He played this entire record, which sounds much better live.

Hard to get a feel for this, it washes over like a mood and then it's gone. 22, A Million has become my favourite of his, the debut is still excellent but I can't even go back to the self-titled anymore because it is so exceptionally boring. Beth/Rest was one of the few genuinely interesting moments on the record and most people treat it like Frankenstein's monster. Even when it's hit or miss, I really appreciate his recent work because it's given his discography something invigorating. I can't even imagine how dull it would have been to slog through garden-variety Holocene knockoffs every album.

agree with all those takes

Those takes are pretty out there for me. Beth/Rest, 22 and this are pretty bad.

What an odd record. Doesn't quite feel complete to me, but Faith and Hey, Ma are two of the best tracks this band ever did.

Damn I still really love this record. I didn't love 22, A Million as much as I wanted to but I really enjoy listening to this thing front-to-back.

Seemed kinda boring first listen but then again its been awhile. Only heard 22 a million by him and really liked it.
