Agreed. It's not about losing the heaviness alone. It's the lose of the dynamic range that heaviness allowed for.

butt.

If nothing else, it was the first time I saw a Call of Duty headshot metaphor used in a review of anything.

Nice review. You basically summed up my thoughts exactly on this.

I quite liked their “Clairvoyant” LP in that it reminded me somewhat of TesseracT.

Nice review, I’ll have to give this a spin when I can.

"I disagree with the implicit assumption that The Contortionist lacked nuance on Exoplanet."

A purely unintentional implication I assure you. I was merely asserting that they've come a long way since Exoplanet. But give this a listen. Follows is the best thing they've done since Language, IMO. It's not deathcore, but there's definitely a fine amount of the aggression that I felt Clairvoyant sorely lacked.

The EP was shown to people who bought the VIP bundle in their last headlining run. All Grey played first, followed by Early Grave and 1979. Honestly All Grey as the intro track makes this EP flow way better.

Yeah, I'm really confused by its presence on this EP as not an intro to anything.

@Marskid, couldn't have said it better myself. It was always the dichotomy between deathcore/progressive that made this band fresh and buzzworthy. I still stand by my opinion that Language was their artistic peak.

This EP is weak compared to what I was hoping for after Language. RIP

Also, did someone really say "Follow" sounds like a better version of Tool?...... fcking lol

The two actual songs on here are decent, but they don't come close to any of the best songs on Clairvoyant. The 1979 cover is pretty meh as well.

I like this band but I cannot fathom how they've altered what was a genuinely superb sound.

Will check this for sheer morbid curiosity though.

Nice lil taster almost feels like an old promo CD for a new album, new songs are good even if production is pretty sterile. 1979 is meh but I still hope they play it when I see them live next week as its one of the greatest summer songs of all time and they probably perform it better than the Pumpkins these days
