Agreed. Debut was ait, The Here and Now was commercial garbage, and Daybreaker onwards is just boring chugga chugga for genericore fans.

ngl I still hold onto their first three and dont mind a few tracks off of their next two but everything theyve done in the 2010s is just varying levels of trash.

I like architects. He's one of the best vocalists in the genre imo but I also like their lyrics and themes usually (sometimes it gets old).
You can call them generic if you want but they are good at being generic. Northlane is bad generic. (i have not listened to this album yet, but marcus era northalen up to this point is bad generic.. we'll see with this one)

I haven't actually heard the rest of Northlane's output though

But that's the best part about Architects and the reason I enjoy their newer albums despite being generic. Because they AREN'T just chugga chugga. They try to put some emotion and ambiance in to their music. Their newer stuff has a way more consistent tone than most metalcore.

Normally, I'd agree with you, but I feel like their material is very much rehashed. Hollow Crown and Ruin had a couple of bangers, Daybreaker was some edgelord-politcore, LFLT at times felt like a heavier BMTH (not in a good way), Gods had some cool tunes - definitely their best one since HC, and Holy Hell was just lazily written and watered down - which is strange because they got Josh to join them.
Obviously, this is just my opinion.

"Theyre a contendor for worst metalcore band of this decade at the very least."
I think Issues or Sworn In take that crown tbh.

Although this is definitely the most unique album Northlane have done since Adrian left I haven't found myself enjoying it as much as some seem to, although it is still pretty good. The main gripes I have are the obviously outdated electronic sections.
Like they venture dangerously close to dubstep at times.
Gotta commend Marcus for his vocals though, definitely his best performance yet.
