i mean doesn't the fact that these big name artists want to sample his song speak to the quality, or at the very least, uniqueness of it? this doesn't really sound like luck to me. it was the character of his work that got their attention in the first place.

He's unlucky to be the lucky person to have the unluckiest slice of eventual good luck ever huh?

Also the track in particular easily fits in a variety of music playlists. This helped it spread a lot.

Our take on Whether or not he’s lucky seems to be a proxy for whether or not we think his music is extraordinary/good/boring hahah. I understand the urge to discuss it in terms of the former but I feel like as it stands I understand very well the particulars of why the people who like his music like it and not at all the reasons people aren’t into it, when it comes to Sonics, arrangement, etc...mostly hearing the “luck/hype” narrative from people in the latter camp. Not trying to stack the deck in our favor but What it sound like to yall

You guys think it's worth avoiding the bootleg or pretending it never happened? Not sure if I should listen to both.

lol wtf seriously I listened to a couple tracks and it sounds like utter messy shit, like a phil collins parody that is mixed horribly with mumbly falsetto.

radiohead couldn't let him have leak of the year

He should have done with his leak in 2013 what Radiohead did with theirs. Probably would have saved him years of stress/depression. In this day and age once it’s out there, it’s out there, can’t do anything about it.

Well, the situation is a little different.

Using that logic Radiohead would have had to release the demos for Ok Computer in advance and then decide whether or not to then record finished versions or abandon the project for something new

The danger is the demos will have become the definitive versions by the time you get to finishing the studio versions - which I guess was JP's dilemma, esp when everyone is in love with the demos.

That scenario would have ruined the release of Ok Computer one way or another you'd have thought.

Very much enjoyed this on first impression. The sequencing is bizarrely ok as well, but as jarring as I’d imagined. Nice.

I guess the one on Spotify is not the 2019 (re-)release, right?
