He should have done with his leak in 2013 what Radiohead did with theirs. Probably would have saved him years of stress/depression. In this day and age once it’s out there, it’s out there, can’t do anything about it.

Well, the situation is a little different.

Using that logic Radiohead would have had to release the demos for Ok Computer in advance and then decide whether or not to then record finished versions or abandon the project for something new

The danger is the demos will have become the definitive versions by the time you get to finishing the studio versions - which I guess was JP's dilemma, esp when everyone is in love with the demos.

That scenario would have ruined the release of Ok Computer one way or another you'd have thought.

Very much enjoyed this on first impression. The sequencing is bizarrely ok as well, but as jarring as I’d imagined. Nice.

I guess the one on Spotify is not the 2019 (re-)release, right?

Yeah it’s genuinely enjoyable, which is cool because I only checked this due to Jai’s football-related allegiance (as shown by the album art). Not quite decided how good it is yet, but I’d be surprised if this ends up wearing off considerably.

That's the thing about these pop shits, or anything with a bunch of hooks. I listen to em super rarely so they stay fresh. Basically out of fear that they'll start to sound old lol

That's understandable, although sometimes you find a happy medium between accessible hooks and depth through subtlety and/or experimentation. The more immediate material pulls you in, then invariably you stick around for the deeper cuts. This feels like one of those releases.

Also does anyone else find it kind of sad that the possible best album of the year is from years ago?
