"but there isn't a track as beautiful as honeybody in here, either."

You mean 'In Fantasia' right?

Okay, A Meal for Leaves might be my SOTY so far

Underrated instrumental piece for sure. My favorite is between Summer of '42 or Marigolds right now, although Annie is a dark horse candidate.

A Meal For Leaves sounds like Kishi Bashi started hanging out with Godspeed You Black Emperor and told them to hold my beer. I love it.

Summer of 42 and Annie are probably right behind though.

nice! i just heard it yesterday for the first time, and then once today, so it's too early to rate the tracks just yet and my 4 is somewhat of a placeholder, but i think with subsequent plays i'll end up bumping the rating even more. i wasn't super into the last album and didn't expect much from this but this might be kishi bashi's best. a very pleasant surprise

Somehow I feel that this would go really well with Miyazaki movies. Would be a great soundtrack to Totoro or something (not that those movies need better music).

This album is driving me crazy because I want to like it more than I do. I’ve given it five or six listens and like it slightly more every time, but it still hasn’t hit completely for me, even though it has everything I like. But I don’t want to keep spinning it just hoping for it to hit me, in case it doesn’t. A weird musical Schroedinger’s Box
