I thought you didn't read interviews, looking forward to your opinion.

I usually don't, but given the lack information available about the band, or at least that I know of, it should be interesting to know a little more about these guys

"A minority of the collective’s contributors – shall we say, parts of the second circle – who’ve been invited to partake because of their incredible talents as musicians are involved with earthly politics, but stand on completely opposite ends of the political spectrum and are therefore irreconcilable political foes. Were it not for dialogue on the grounds of transgressive art, they’d be shooting each other. That tension is what interests us. "

I saw that review yesterday from BangerTV...I got all mad...and went to read some things on wikipedia on the band - no politics there...then I went to that absurdly pretentious interview and I don't often get upset with pretentious stuff at all (I try to get into it), but this time I did got a bit mad with it...still went to look deeper onto this Bataille guy...then I got that that guy was connected to some far left movements (as long to the philosophical concepts on transgression - freethinking, free art brah brah)...got all minfucked up and gave up. Smoked the rest of my joint. Decided to keep my 5 on Paracletus - and gave up (once again) on politic considerations.

can you really say they are being pretentious if they seem to actually know what they're talking about with the definition of the word in mind? possibly I suppose considering we know very little about these fellas, but I don't really get that impression myself. they seem well-versed with the subject-matter of their art. I guess you don't like the academic tone? ^^

No, I guess it was more, the archaic and wobbling, "not going straight to the matter" tone. But again, they've said the interview was part of the album itself (because this album is more "Earthy")...so as said...I don't quite know what to think. And I don't usually mind "pretentious" art.

That shit about the core circle being Bataillian and therefore immune to mundane politics (LOL) and the "second circle" being from all edges to provoke conflict etc...

Guess I'm the only one who hasn't read the interview yet. I hope not to be disappointed, usually musicians aren't great speakers.

In this case the band's music speaks for itself, superior stuff.

Being somewhat expedient, but if you opt for an interview for the first time in 15 years to resolve a political understanding (amongst some other reasons) and use it to spend that many words discussing why your readings for Bataille and Nietsche are head and shoulders more important than the factionalism of traditional and/or contemporary politics, you're either pretentious or obnoxiously self-absorbed in my book. I'm prepared to accept their understanding and conviction, so maybe pretentious is the wrong word, but their valorisation of the whole "art is conflict and that conflict must remain unadulterated" trope is inherently pretentious to me regardless of who delivers it because it's so at odds with reality and the process of consumption (which I recognise isn't a factor for them, but is has artistic valence in its own way, as well as practical). Please point out if I missed something; this is quite interesting and I'd be happy to reread

Now Johnny, why would be more pretentious to try to make an album around PI? bump that thing already! ahaha X)

Gonna take PI as political incorrectness, not private investigator...although I would love to hear a detective-themed bm album.

Been meaning to listen to Paralectus or Fas for a long while, will hop on one of them sometime and give this a check after
