It most reminds me of the problems I had when first listening to Coma Cluster Void, who I ended up loving. There's definitely something here, just wondering if it'll actually give up its secrets in the end.

The band says the album is something like this:

"I: Voice is the sum of 5 years of creativity and focused work. The music plays as a stream of consciousness – jumping often from one area of the metal spectrum to the next with recurring melodies and vibes throughout for the purpose of bringing about an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. Since Essence Of The Land & Two Demons came out, we worked to build upon and elaborate on our musical style and mission statement. From what started as an idea of modern death metal with hints at black metal evolved into a more progressive, unique, and “epic” ethos. Horrifying & beautiful, dynamic & aggressive, harmony found through dissonance, an ebb and flow through drama and resolution, a flirtation with memory, a call for collaboration, personality, and reality – immense emotional energy seamlessly woven within the death metal genre."

so yeah maybe not recommendable for someone passing through a rough time X)

Amazing review, completely agree with everything you said. 2 does seem a bit harsh though considering there are a lot of great moments in this album and they did large parts of it really well, which is more than can be said for a lot of metal.

If you guys don t like conceptual works or artistic interpertations and like your music expectable, plain and emotionless then don t bother yeah. Keep on those little boxes. Go cry on kacey musgraves.

Do you actually think the quality of a work is directly correlated with its ambition or something?

Yeah this is a hot mess, sorry guys. Reading that quote definitely doesn’t help either... purposefully obtuse composition masquerading as conceptual art. ‘Stream of consciousness’ is a valid criticism in this context, something the band themselves are using as a selling point. Colour me confused.
