First two tracks fucking kill me every time. This album works so well for me.

@dmathias52 yeah it's certainly a grower. There's a few amazing bangers off Opportunities too. But man if there was ever a singer who's gonna ruin his voice it's gotta be the singer for Hot Mulligan.
You know what, I 5'd Sort Out Your Head at first too and that's certainly not a 5, must be something about these guys that makes such a huge first impression.

The bump down has happened. I still absolutely adore this, but so much other music has come out that I’m loving and I can’t justify having this rated higher than it. Still immensely replayable though! Nose Blunt is maybe my favorite chorus of the year.

Ooh yeah, curious your opinion on it. Leans more pop punk than emo, but I could see it being up your alley. Has been fairly divisive though

pop punk is decent, will check in a bit

I thought I'd like this, but the lyrics are vapid and sometimes even incoherent.

Dropped my rating a tad. Still some great stuff on here, but they do fall for a lot of emo cliches, they just do it better than most.

the fuck need Kayak Jones when there's Prince Daddy

Barely started this but this vocalist is already 100% better than Prince Daddy
|

still leaves him in the lower tier...
I really kind of hate this. It feels so contrived.

Comes as genuine to me, but the overall structuring / instrumentals make this a 3.0 - 3.5 Just another band going through the motions, they just happen to do the motions well. There are high points here but they are unfortunately never replicated.

Pretty well said. This is a songs album, not a consistent experience.

"Lonely Codependent" and the opening track and definitely songs I'd love to return to. That's how you do pop punk right.

This is so close to being a Home, Like No Place There Is but the production works against it a lot and the lyrics aren't quite tight enough. They have all the potential to get there though. I can't wait to see what they do next.

Lonely Codependent is an easy contender for SOTY, the lyrics are potent af. "All I am is warmth is for your bed, all I am is half the rent." Best line I've heard all year

the EP 'sort out your head' is still peak Kayak Jones and peak emo tbh, legit one of the best EPs I've heard to date
