His solo albums are closer to this, though a bit more straightforward

The way this album is structured and paced is just out of this world.

It'd be really interesting to see how those new Lambchop songs translate live. And yeah, this is seriously one of the best albums I have ever heard. Haven't been this moved in a long, long time.

"Haven't been this moved in a long, long time."

since Ben Howard for me, honestly. Overall this album is probably better but nothing here hits me as hard as "Nica Libres" yet, that song is just perfection

Noonday Dream is an absolute masterpiece but even that doesn't sweep me off my feet the same way this has. When I listened to it a couple of nights ago I just sat in silence in pure awe when it over was haha.

Can I just say how beautifully mysterious Mary and Threading Water are? Those swells with the strings are majestic.

Personally I would enjoy this more with Fool’s Game and Leave a Light trimmed off - album is a bit too long to its detriment.

Do realise others love those two tunes so prob best he didn’t cut them, but I might edit them out for a regular listening playlist.

here is that swell season video i mentioned on page 1. the whole thing is great, but the highlights are "feeling the pull" which is more fleshed out than the record version, and glen's solo cover of van morrison's 'astral weeks'. the way he does that song is just insane.

I dig the first half more too, although both sides have something going in their favor. The back half is more pristine and scenic, the first half more bold/impactful & sweeping - also it has the element of surprise in its favor considering that I don't think anyone expected him to bust out his inner Nick Cave/Roger Waters
