"it's amazing how similar Todd and Geoff sound"
Yeah seriously, he sounds like a younger Tate

I actually don't think he sounds THAT much like Geoff, but he's a damn good mimic for sure.
There is going to be a time when we may honestly have to consider him in the upper echelon of metal singers. I can't think of anyone else with the balls to pick up the mic for Queensryche, let alone Crimson Glory. And there is an argument that he's a better live singer than Midnight was.
Granted, none of his own material is classic, but that's not really his fault. Dude has carried the weight of QR with humility and respect, and continues to knock it out of the park. I'm a big fan.

'Dude has carried the weight of QR'
dude I don't think you understand how big Queensryche was becoming through their glory years......and I will say this is good, style wise, but nothing from the LaTorre era really stands out......I can't identify many of the individual songs because it is all very similar
every Tate era album sounds different

not sure I know what you mean. I think QR was pretty well respected even among thrash bands in the 80s.
And yeah, every tate album is super unique I agree.

they were!
but by saying the weight has been carried, to me, is saying not much has been lost and that certainly isn't true

Oh man I can't get into AS anymore, I think I even dislike it a bit more than DtC. At least the latter is tragicomic with a couple strokes of good *sections*, but AS just plods along forever while doing absolutely nothing for me ugh (sure, I can give you a couple guitar parts), plus Tate sounds so nasal that the attempts to channel his younger self are just painful.
On the other hand, I don't hate any of the albums before it. HitNF is a total mess (with salvageable songs) but both Q2K and Tribe are pretty okay-to-fine records on their own imo. And, as much as I'm bothered by its existence, I must admit that on Mindcrime II Tate really tried to do something worthwhile, it's even proggy at times.

This album rocks. Light years (haha) better than Condition Human, yet they have the same overall rating.
