It's weird, I struggled to see how this was really all that emo. Makes me think I must have very little grasp of what the genre is.

This album just keeps getting better and better, what a beautiful collection of songs.

And Doom In Full Bloom still is one of the best songs of the year.

The emo label is more of a scene/image thing instead of a sound thing anyway. Kinda comparable to gothic in that sense.

This is post rock-y with a fair share of dream pop. It still has a somewhat similar sound to the debut due to the arrangement of multiple guitars in odd time signatures plus restrained bass, so it's a neat case of being different yet recognizable. Not "emo" though, most definitely.

What would be 3 albums that you would consider as distinctly emo in the niche music forum kind of way? It's a serious question - I love the debut and it made me curious.

What were people's main takeaways for the meaning held by Doom in full bloom?

I could be miles off the mark, but it struck me as two moments in time converging on top of each other. One, where the man is looking at the love of his life at the outset of their lives together, in a moment of great happiness and admiration. This moment is felt with the concurrent knowledge (almost in clairvoyance) that one day she will be taken from him (or possibly leave him) while still a young woman.

It feels right to me and fits the beautiful mood of the song. Most of us take our loved ones for granted and don't consider in moments of happiness that one day the shared relationship will always ultimately conclude with sadness (loss) - hence doomed, even when it is in a state of 'full bloom'.
