they brought back some melodeath elements, added a vague "come clarity" feel in certain tracks, and the result is their best album in 5 years. they should take note. I mean, it's ok if they want to stick with the alternative/melodic groove style of their newest stuff, just make the songs worth the listen

I think this was quite enjoyable tbh. The vocals did leave some to be desired but I find them to be quite an improvement compared to previous few albums. The guitar riffs are pretty great for sure as well

Anders' vocals have definitely gotten better. I'm wondering if keeping it more clean the past two albums has helped. You could tell them cords started begging for mercy, especially during live shows since around maybe 2010 or so.

there's pretty obvious autotune all over these last two albums though, I don't think he's gotten better so much as they've just tried their damnedest to make him sound better than he actually is

that said I too enjoy this album a good deal

how could you be in your 40s and not be embarrassed to be a part of something like these last few albums?

i think he sounds better here because he sings in a safer range most times, compared to every explosive chorus in siren charms for example. but in songs like "call my name" it's clear that the struggle is still real

This isnt super terrible if you accept them for what they are now. But for people who say anders has always been bad... you cant listen to food for the gods, worlds within the margin, or resin and tell me that

I mean it's a great improvement from Battles, so if they keep up the trend we'll have some classics in 10 or so years.

Well now, that seemed unnecessarily rude my guy but do you really expect them to go back to their 90s style and that production quality because it isnt going to happen
