Yeah, Pale Blue Dot is a song that works well with how Labrie sounds now. I am still curious to see how DT would sound with a new singer. The mixing of the live DVD seems to sound pretty good, atleast better than this album sounded.

Imagine this band with Russell Allen as the singer. That'd be some crazy shit

Yep, or even Ray Alder
Could never get into Pale Blue Dot

Now that is divergent thinking!
But nah, LaBrie's solo albums are probably more successful than anything either one of those dudes have ever touched, let alone his work with Dream Theater. Dude has sang some amazing songs for this band.
Now if LTE invited Ray to sing on their next record, I wouldn't be complaining.

S2N is the best song here. Second half of the album definitely outperforms the first half in general for me.

On DT's new album:
"With this album, all I can say is that the music as a whole, and now with the vocals on top of it… I don't know. I'll just leave it at this. I said to John when I was finishing the last vocal, I said, 'You know what? We just upped the ante.' I said, 'We just hit a whole new level.' And I said, 'This is our 15th freaking album, and we've done it again. We've upped the ante. There's something going on here that I think the fans are just gonna flip out when they hear it.' And he goes, 'I said that to my wife the other night. I was sitting down. I was listening to the album from front to back, and I was freaking out.' And I go, 'Same here. I'm listening to these songs when we're done, and I'm going back to the hotel room and I'm listening to them, and I'm going, 'Holy shit. What the hell is going on here?'' And I think it's very exciting. And even Jordan [Rudess, keyboards] — he was FaceTiming me, going, 'Holy shit.' He's all amped up. He's, like, 'Is it just me or are you hearing this stuff?' And I'm, like, 'No, man. There's something really cool going on here.' And he's going, 'The fans are gonna freak out.'I go, 'Yeah, they are. They really are.'
I mean, as a DT fan, this has gotta amp you up at least a little bit

Always looking forward to new DT material for sure. For me they totally missed their mark only once, otherwise there’s always something to enjoy on their albums. Would be great if they’ll leave their comfort zone a bit and create something unexpected, with Viper King they really tried something new and I think it worked out pretty well.

Would love to see them go even further with the djent influence that started creeping into this album.

Idk, these vague statements say nothing about the music
These kinds of statements always feel shallow imo, but they said the same stuff last time and the album was pretty good, so idk

I disagree with the last 2 comments. John Petrucci is a man of integrity in my opinion. Now if it was strictly LaBrie comments, they would be suspect.

To be perfectly honest, I somehow dig their low budget coverart style. It can be really bad, but this one looks kinda nice
