Got 3 strawbs records for Christmas this year. I’m so thankful for the prog tourney because I found this, Badger, and 3 strawbs this winter on LP and got them because of the tourney.

Also, for those who liked my dig, thanks! Anthem of the Sun is actually proggy in its own right especially on New Potato Caboose->Born Cross-Eyed. Those tracks have an early Yes vibe before Yes was made

I say all the time that the Dead are prog, listen to Wake of the flood, Terrapin station, Blues for Allah, all very proggy
actually I put the Strabs album in the last tourney; Ghosts, thought it had a chance, but got bounced the first round
I have about 4-5 waiting for the tourney

You're a very lucky guy, Diva. Procol Harum and Strawbs, great. In my case my love for Strawbs is unconditional. They're one of my favourite prog folk bands, only surpassed by Jethro Tull. In the 70's they created some amazing stuff.
By the way, I'm going to review a Strawbs album very soon, that belongs to my Yes prog journey. You'll see, in time.

actually don't think i've heard this one yet, but In the Can is a very underrated guitar prog record

"actually don't think i've heard this one yet"
But you must Fripp. It isn't a masterpiece but is a good album. Besides, it represents a good testimony of that musical era, the great 70's.
About "In The Can", I never checked the album, really.

Nice! Yeah I've managed to build a pretty large record collection by sticking to records in the $1-$8 range.

I am frugal as well, need to know where to by what for cheap, becasue different record stores value different genre differently, found a good copy of Space Ritual for a dollar, cause the dude had no idea what it was, was surprised I did, his loss

Okay, his def. has that early yes feel, as in the music and energy. Really like this as I am also a big fan of the Yes debut and push for it to get more love.
Really glad this did not get lost in my collection, have had it pulled since I brought it home, but kept pushing it off, if it would have been filed, never would have gotten around to it
could have used a killer closer, the slow down was a bummer IMO. But the rest of the album has an almost jammy quality which I always dig
speaking of jam, the repeating riff in Children of the universe has a striking resemblance to an old Dead jam. See what you think https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_MlKpZABy0

I had never heard before "Doin 'That Rag" of Grateful Dead. Now that you said that and after some spins of that track, despite the clear differences, I think you may are right. There are indeed some common points on both riffs. Interesting thing.
Thanks, dude.

when I first heard it yesterday, I went, "What"that is the riff from Doin' that rag, and went to it to confer. Def. loads of differences between the 2, where the dead are set in that realm, Flash take it way farther and the song is a highlight of the album.
