Can you elucidate a little? The review doesn’t really touch on much that happens in the record and I haven’t seen anyone discussing what the album does well aside from its atmosphere and it making people feel good or something itt. One comment said something about every song having special moments without going further. I don’t expect people to have to explain why they like something but I also don’t really understand what this album is doing better than Air.
everything seems so much more congruent and working with each other - the memorable moments on this album are beyond counting for me and happen in nearly every single track, the drumming especially building up the tension to make it so that the delivery of every moment seems so much more powerful and rewarding. half way points in water and lost are so hard hitting when the vocals hit the high point and the drums drive in with the riffs in the undercurrent. totally not limited to those tracks though. i think it's more about everything working with each other to make this massive, bombastic, spacey yet energetic sound rather than individual elements sticking out like in the last album where riffs would pummel you and the vocals were really upfront. but if you look beneath that there's some really creative drumwork, basswork and melodic riffs that just hit home for me and the way everything is so melodious and pinpoint is so enjoyable. i'm glad they focused on that. every time i spin this record i notice another super cool bit like a bass passage i didn't notice before.
in short, it's just a fantastic sound and they work so well as a band to deliver an energetic and hell, euphoric feeling. this album i feel they really know what they're DOING with that sound. they've discovered how much better to utilise it.

My only grudge with this band is sometimes the music feels forced. Not authentic. Heavily processed. Non - organic. If you know what I mean. Excellent review and thanks.

I don’t really find much of what you’ve mentioned as a positive to be absent on Air. I’d already mentioned this album’s congruency and focus on the rhythm section being more of an obvious driving force. It feels like builds are the crux of your argument as I don’t really know what to think of this record being “bombastic” and “energetic” and Air implicitly not because it has a few more individual elements sticking out (which again doesn’t make sense to me because you’ve stated this album’s drumming being pivotal to the tension with a degree of emphasis more than the other components). The only other point you’ve really brought up, one echoed by a few others already, is it feeling more euphoric. I’m not really sure how to gauge that but if this is pivotal enough to your argument to be included in the tl;dr, I might just have to concede to agree to disagree.
Yea Sowing jam it. It’s a fun time! It has a couple of tracks that could fit snuggly on here with a little reworking. Homesick is a slap.

Def get on Air, Sow. It is practically a faster version of this. More blast beats and unrelenting momentum. They're both superb.

Air just has this unfortunate A Skylit Drive sound to it that I just can’t warm up to. But Stargazer EP is v good. This, to me, sounds a lot more like an expansion of that sound than it is Air. It’s just not quite as fast as Stargazer. The title track on Air, though, is easily their best song, imo.

honestly this is a breath of fresh air
love the positive vibes here, it's nice to listen to metal that isn't all doom-and-gloom
like I'm not at a point in my life where I can relate to vitriolic stuff as much and this just glides so smoothly and with such beautiful guitar-work
it'll remain in my rotation year around because I won't have to find myself in an angry or shitty mood to appreciate it

Listening now, on seventh track. While I miss the blastbeats, this is pretty nice. I think the overall sound has improved. Whether or not these songs have the emotional punch a year or two later (as most of the tracks on 'Air' still do for me) remains to be seen. Between this and the imminent new Saor release, February is going to rock pretty hard and pretty in my house.
