Was this band actually black metal at some point in their careers? They get described that way on the band page and I hear none of this in both "Air" and this.

Yeah I feel like if something is even slightly "shoegazey", someone will instantly throw a black metal tag on it. I think we're getting a bit too liberal on the definition of that term.
That being said, I haven't listened to anything else of theirs. So maybe they were more black metal at one point

I love this, it's definitely an easier, catchier listen than Air but their sound is so endearing.
They used a lot of blast beats and fast tempos in the past, check out their first EP it's actually really good.

Their old stuff was way more "we did blackgaze with cleans lolol" than their LPs, I believe.

I think the chorus in Beyond the Scope is probably the catchiest for me. Every song really does have standout moments.

It is really polished, which holds it back from being better. I am still really enjoying this amongst all the other metal (mostly black, sludge, and grind) that I currently have on play.
