An inconsistent effort but a definite improvement over Requiem, in my opinion. Sorrow is a stunning track

I sort of dropped off the radar w/this band after The Last Dawn/Ray of Darkness but I just finished listening to this today out of my growing curiosity to see where the band stands now. Honestly, I found it quite to be quite enjoyable for the most part. Starts off strong but then trails off for me a bit during the 2nd half. I agree w/Dewinged 'bout "Meet Us...", that's probably the highlight track for me on first listen.

The best tracks on this are actually really ducking sweet

i love the album art but i've grown so tired of post-rock over the years. not sure i'll end up checking this. Hymn is still great though

The last line of the second sentence says "mono's music has become so repetitious that the ... songs ... have become ... repetitious"
Otherwise a solid review
Still never check this band

Man you guys were right about that second half being forgettable but the first half really is great. Leaning somewhere between a 3 and a 3.5 for me

Hymn is the best post-rock record I've yet heard.

None of them trying to be a post metal band with occasional horrible vox either lol

Co-signing that Hymn is a hard 5/5

I personally find the second half of Hymn to be pretty dull...You Are There is a far more engaging and consistent listen.
Enjoying Nowhere much more than Requiem. A few new ideas and better drumming has gone a long way for them. Also so surprised that Rays of Darkness is a 3.4 on here - asides from the opener, it's a phenomenal waste of time.

I think I need some help here...cause I'm listening lately to Mono, Together to the Stars, Alcest and Astronoid and completely having hard time in discerning what is good or bad by now lolol and some times it looks like listening the same crescendo stuff over and over. lolol tell me please its all very different and special and not that different at all...but special anyways lolol

Definitely listen to Hymn, it's one of my absolute favourite post-rock records, perhaps the best in it's style actually. 'You Are There' is excellent as well. Having said that I've done a terrible job in checking the rest of their discog.

Hymn was good, but more like a soundtrack tbh...I'm just getting a bit confused with all these bands lol

If you want something that stands out a bit more I would recommend Alcest's 'Kodama' and Cult of Luna's 'Mariner' (more post-metal, dunno if that counts but it's great either way).
