"Don’t get me wrong—I enjoyed Pull The Thorns, still gave it a 4. But, to me, the atmosphere and experimentation was at its fullest and best executed on Renacer and Pull The Thorns was just a stripped-back version overall, albeit with some major highlights. You mentioned all my favorites I believe actually haha"
Interesting perspective, I just don't see how Pull the Thorns was "stripped back." It's a much more detailed and (somewhat) sprawling listen. Compared to Renacer, each song has a lot more intricacy and the tonal variety is much greater among them.
I can understand the argument that PtT doesn't have as many 'hooks' as Renacer, but I guess ultimately I don't really care about hooks so much as unpredictability and experimentation, which PtT had in spades. I will agree that the lyrics were the album's weakest element, though, occasionally devolving into trite cliche. With that said, the lyrics were similarly problematic on Renacer (and all of SF's material, really).

Yeah I don’t agree with that at all. My main complaint with Thorns is that most of the songs are kinda one-note. I’d say the last three tracks do a good job of combining multiple elements and being more “intricate”. While there is variety amongst the tracks themselves, I just felt most of this album did nothing other than “here’s a heavy song, now here’s a soft song, now here’s a heavy one”. That trend goes until the 8th track.
