I could never claim this is a bad band by any means. It's just that they offer little what I actually look for in metal.

This review reads like if you tried to honor the band by writing a review as dense as their music. Still really good tho (both the album and the review).

"Band is great, Vektor are much better though"

Not really. Vektor aren't as consistent, don't retool their style as effectively and overall don't write stuff as creative as their work over the last three decades.

I don't think Vektor and Mekong Delta are all that comparable tbh; aside from the fact that both play a technically advanced thrashy kind of metal.

When it comes down to personal taste, I prefer Vektor's sound by a long shot myself as they manage to keep me more engaged throughout their entire records.

I'm not even necessarily going with Firedust's comparison on a sonic level. I'm going more on a writing level. I mean, we've never seen Vektor do something the equivalent of going from something like The Music of Erich Zann to Kaleidoscope or from Lurking Fear to Wanderer in such a short amount of time.

Besides, I think this band writes better progressions and is generally more creative. A lot of Vektor isn't necessarily as complex as late '80s Destruction, late '80s to early '90s Coroner, etc. which makes up the majority of their sound anyway.

In terms of complexity Mekong Delta is by far one of the most complex out there.

I'd say Vektor in terms of complexity is definitely up there with Destruction at their most tech tbh. Definitely as complex as Coroner as well, even though Coroner had distinctly different riffing patterns.

In terms of personal experience, I find Vektor to be the more engaging writers on an accessibility level myself. I can put on any Vektor record and have a lot of fun, while even the Mekong Delta records I liked the best are already wearing off me big time. I honestly think these guys are a near-exclusive band for the tech freaks.
