This is all fair enough, but can I pitch in with a different view (for my first comment on this forum )? I've come to the album via Spotify via Faded and it's clear that this is a set of singles not an album. as such. But I haven't got a problem really with any of these tunes. Listening to them all one after another is a bit like having an entire box of Milk Tray in one sitting - but I don't think that's how either are really intended to be consumed.

think that's a fair statement, it's intended more as a compilation of material than a cohesive album I see, but as it's marketed and formatted as an album you kinda have to treat it as one and criticise it based on pre-existing notions of being able to listen to the whole thing. if it were being treated as just a compilation, which it probably should have been, then that's fine (although I still fail to see any artistic progression on his part), but calling it in an album brings up these certain notions.

of course I could be wrong about it being marketed an album, in which case disregard most of that as it was just a presumption on my part

Sure, Brostep, it is clear from your previous comments that you don't like Alan Walker. But you have a friend who does, so presumably you can see that opinions differ among fair-minded people even as you struggle to understand how someone you like can enjoy this stuff. To me it veers dangerously close to bland "Europop" while being dressed up as something subversive / underground / alternative culture (see the videos). But I think the tunes have good hooks.
