wanting-to-be-against-the-curve bias is just as strong, if not stronger, than hype bias. at least here idk. that's basically what hipsters are and there's a reason they make people roll their eyes.
sure hype is bad cuz bias, but at least its biasing you into enjoying something, rather than biasing you into hating it. expecting the worst always with a hyped release sounds like an unpleasurable way to listen to songs.

i mean, yea, actively wanting to hate something is fucking stupid, we can all agree on that. I try to give a fair shot to everything, but when you listen to something 3, 4 times, give something a 3/5 and say 'yo it's not thaaaat amazing' and get called a hater or sumin' makes you wish you did hate it.

If sounding bored and mixed mad low down over glitchy samples is being a visionary looks like I’m gonna not vibe with future hip hop

people who shit on others for having a 3.0 score should get a life for sure.

Yeah do the madlib and mf doom inspired shit all you want but if the samples are higher than the vocals in the mix it’s just a chore to listen to

its not even that its a chore to listen to, it just straight up doesn't sound good/right.
and the beats on this are second-rate madvillain across the board fr.
actually loosey is dope, too bad its less than a minute lmao

yea I guess as a standalone it's not that strong but it fits perfectly in playlists which is what's the convenient way to play shit now especially since radio shows in apps or online are still hot

i’m not usually into lo-fi-y rap but this seems super genuine and thought out to me despite the main critique from most being it sounding lazy. the entire album loops very seamlessly and if this is ~diet madvillian/mf doom~ then i’m into it. the feel is a good bit different to me

Earl has always sounded like that though idk why it’s coming as such a surprise. That’s just his style.

I remember listening to a video that was just Earl's profanities in one of his earlier albums and I kept hearing "GAHT DAYUM" over and over lolol

Nah this sounds like someone remixed madvilliany in audacity and Shy Ronnie rapped over it

Hahaha sorry my dude, I love madvilliany and even lazy earl is better than a good portion of whats out so that’s why I still have this at a 3, it’s just not my favorite this year by a long stretch.

Idk I find the majority of this to have a bit more emotional depth and I think it definitely sounds a bit more off-the-deep-end than your average DOOM track.

a lot of the sections in these beats sound like they were recorded onto a mono tape recorder and i think it’s Sick
