This is definitely a step down from AOG or LF/LT. The instrumentals have definitely been simplified for more of an orchestral/synth approach. You can also tell that Tom wrote Doomsday because none of the other songs hold a candle to that one instrumentally.

Also, I guess I was expecting the album to be a bit more emotional than it was. Maybe it's Sams vocal approach but Brendan from Counterparts or even Garrett from Silent Planet have stronger vocal deliveries and they haven't lost a brother.

Personally I think this a sterling effort from the band and is most likely their best since Ruin.

Listening to this feels like a chore.. Not hating this band in anyway but for now this is not clicking.

What about Holy Hell is in any way better than their last two albums other than maybe the more melodic/singing side?

Great review dude, the last 3 singles they put out are still my favourites here along with Seventh Circle which on a first listen completely blew me away... its a perfect mix of old and new architects imo.

Still gotta listen to it a few more times but a 4 seems fair enough, I did prefer All Our Gods just because of how much cathartic and grittier it felt

This is... just okay. Idk why their music isn’t doin it for me much anymore. Seventh Circle and Modern Misery are fucking sick though. And bless these fellas for continuing on without their brother Tom. All the tributes to his lyrics are what really make this album special.

Not quite lol. I'd say it's among the lower end of the best metal I've heard this year.

Great work Simon, I can’t agree with all your points but there are some merits here.

Tom wrote more than Doomsday but the band isn’t disclosing what specifically because they don’t want to influence anyone’s opinion by having that information
