Eyes on the water between the continents,

This is Gondwana, it smells so different,

A cold wind blows out here,

The sea's already dead,

Let's get in the water, let our bodies be the last.

I thought Gondwana was hot and humid?

Edit: After reading wikipedia I realize that was a pretty dumb question. Basically Gondwana saw all the climates.

That last bit still gives me the fucking shivers, so good and the delivery is pitch-perfect

Contemplating, Trouble making

Even though the air is getting hot and dry

Sticking to your skin, and your open wounds

The sun burns us alive

That's how we got to know

Contemplating seeing them again, even though I already saw them a few months ago.

This album has the complete opposite trajectory than that of Pelagial. Between release and now, this is clicking more and more. Every time I spin Pelagial, I find myself skipping more songs.

"Sea level rise:

It's the beginning of the Great Dying

Soon it will be over

Long time to recover:

30 million years

Yes I'd kill to relieve the load

Yes I'd kill to relieve a burden"

Those lyrics in Great Dying are my favorite

In case nobody realized, "The Great Dying" lyrics are a mix between the 'story' of the Permian period and a human being self-reflecting on his/her inner mind workings and the impending doomish consequences of globalwarming

Or at least that's how I read most of it

Anyway, freakin' Silurian live:

In case you didn't realize, the entirety of The Ocean's discog is a mix between whatever historical nonsense they decide the album will be based on and reflections on the human condition with introspective free-verse poetry using that concept as a broad metaphorical backdrop

which is to say, fuck yeah Silurian live

This thing still fucks so hard, The Great Dying is an amazing closer, I love the way it just cuts out suddenly to reflect the extinction that occurred that the songs based on.
