Yeah I'm excited for their new album coming out at the end of the month. I only just discovered them a couple of days ago but I'm really into their sound.

Man fuck this album, Anthony fanta gave it a 10 and all of a sudden guys who weren’t even into hardcore are like “this is the greatest thing of all time. His David Yow impression is so subversive”

I think it's cringe whenever people flock or hate an album solely based on a reviewer's opinion, but at least he is giving more attention to heavy/alternative music that most of his channel would never check out in the first place. Still hate Alexis though.

I won’t diss on a guy for liking this because no one wants to knowingly support a shithead but my serotonin levels are low and I need an easy target to shit on
|

Reminds me of my relationship to Vektor's music

No worries, I love shitting on Fantano too at times lol.

Honestly Fantano boosted these guys popularity into the stratosphere. They had like 20000 monthly listeners on Spotify and then he gave this a 10 and they were pushing 200000 the next month.
I remember seeing them live and just thinking how crazy it was that the show was that packed

yeh they went from a relatively obscure cult band enjoyed in core/spazz circles to an online 'mucore'/'whatever you want to call it' darling

True, I remember only like 3 obscure kids in my high school used to jam these guys
Fastforward to 2018 and Iw was meeting random people at bars with Daughters shirts on

I know they got a big boost but damn they really peak up that much?
I don't know a single person irl who has ever jammed daughters

Here in the NYC scene they were the top of conversation for a couple years, yeah
|
| |
Speaking of Fantano influence, I’m surprised we haven’t seen way more people with that death shirt
I mean I have it but I got it before I watched him 😂

Fantano may have influenced it, but guys... that's just how the music industry works...
Mitski, BCNR, St. Vincent, Pheobe Bridgers, ect.
|

Mitski was never the same after she left the hardcore scene

I like Fantano, he gets way too much shit for critiquing music. Though he does have a very defined influence on music today, especially with emerging artists.
He has certainly turned me on to artists here and there.

eh, he's a quality, honest reviewer with solid, well-founded takes and a good sense of humor. that being said, i watched his recent Chat Pile review and he seemed kinda uninspired/not into it, like he was just reading lines off a prompter
