This thread is just a circle jerk of Sowing and some dudes who think they are p cool for getting the album early. That said I am hyped.

What I take away from that comment is I have the album and you don't

I’m pretty cool for other reasons too, I think. I have a great taste in wall paint. I occasionally stare at waterfalls longingly.

Julia is orders of magnitude better than Hydra.

It would be if the screaming was audible and it didn’t have that generic guitar solo (honestly it might be my all time least favorite part of any MWY song ever, it’s out of key and doesn’t go with the melodic feel of the rest of the track at all). Other than that I think it’s great.

I love the uncertainty of that solo lol. Julia slaaaaps. I’m partial to agree about the screams though. I enjoy them for sure now, but my preference would be that they are a bit more up in the mix

Muted screams are way more powerful agreed, Ghost. They blend into the mix so well. The production on the whole album is stellar. As for singles, 'Hydra' isn't as good as 'Julia', but I've played that song to death and really loved 'Hydra' immediately. It's like a newer 'O' Porcupine' imo

When comparing Julia to Hydra it is important to frame it in that I think Julia is one of the top five songs of 2018.

Julia is probably my third favorite mwY track ever (behind Rainbow Signs, Michael). It's amazing how even though I consider B,S and CFUTF my two favorite records, that most of my top 10 would be comprised of their most recent two albums. Maybe it's time for me to re-evaluate which albums I actually enjoy and relate to the most. Lately it's been feeling like PH and [Untitled]. Of course that could just be recency bias at play. *head spins*

If I had to make a top 10 it would mostly be comprised of Catch For Us and Brother, Sister tbh. Songs like 'Carousels', 'January 1979', 'Sweater', 'Messes of Men' are just too good. Would prob include 'Bear's Vision' and 'Fox's Dream', and 'Beetle King' too. Hard to know just yet which of these songs have the best lasting power. I already know 'JULIA's is in the top 10 tho. 'Another Head For Hydra' is honestly a fave too, same with 'Flee' and 'Michael'
