Yeah, that last verse in Julia is where mewithoutYou's entire career just melds into one sound and it's endlessly exhilarating.

I’ve said “I have to admit I liked the cut of his pant legs” so many times out loud it’s ridiculous lol

originally I wished Weiss woulda let loose at the end but now I love the muted screams more

feels like his voice is suppressed, like he's shouting from the bottom of a well for a savior

I've said it a few times, but the way those muted screams blend in with the instrumentation of that track gives the climax of that song a viciousness and energy that couldn't have been done with just a faster pace or a heavier riff. It's a bold and brilliant piece of producing - and it's entirely natural to the band's sound.

One of my only gripes is Weiss not going nuts at the ending of dormouse sighs

same about the screams. I was so worried that would be the pattern for the WHOLE record, but it’s absolurely perfect in context.

Yeah, but coming off three songs that use that screaming tool in a row, I don't mind the band switching to a more melodic approach in Dormhouse Sighs. That chanting in the end is still intense as hell. It so subtly layers upon itself.

Yeah it makes sense the instrumentation intensifies instead, but damn, it could've been effective with screams.

what part would he have screamed though? fire and a flood/power in the blood? i dunno why it just doesn't feel like it naturally builds to screaming although I guess they coulda reworked it to do so

SAME. I heard it might not ship for another month or two. Someone said on reddit that they emailed them. It’ll be worth the wait though

I agree that there could be a version of Dormouse with screams at the end that would rule, but I think the beautiful Godspeed air-raid guitar that comes in halfway through the outro kind of serves the same climactic purpose. I get chills at that part, every time. It's a pretty singular moment in their discography.

@heyadam I am trying to be patient. I just REALLY want to put it on my turntable and get lost in the booklet.

@Taxt I love Dormouse as-is. A little too mid-tempo for screams, imo.

Yeah, the guitar makes up for it. It just feels like it could have been so much more.

@dbizzles Nah I’m right there with you. I’m most excited for that book - it’ll be an even more immersive experience, which is insane to me.
