I respect that. Its mostly just my perspective. I'm a composer and I usually spend my time listening to innovative music which keeps me inspired to write; which is my main passion. Also, my ear is much different too.

But I won't diss anyone who decides to listen to this. Especially not you, my dear Lucca.

Yeah Revocation is something I'd file under fun meat & potatoes metal next to The Black Dahlia Murder and High on Fire. They ain't pushing the brand, they servicing the fans.

Yeah sometimes in supplement to Death and Gorguts, I'll listen to the occasional Obscura. Although Obscura ins't really doing anything totally new I do enjoy some tracks from time to time because they do try take their influences a little further (whether they succeeded or not).

I mean people can't just watch super OG A24 horror films all day. You gotta supplement with some fun blockbusters that stick to a formula and turn your brain off. It's also ok to like them the same amount for different reasons.

These guys basically put out the same album over and over again and I'm ok with that haha. Same with Black Dahlia Murder.

AOTY for me so far, quality from the first seconds till the end, face melting solos and finally some audible bass.

I do greatly enjoy the audible bass mix. Could be much louder tho imo

Unless you're beyond creation.. the bass could ALWAYS be louder.

Yeah but even with Beyond Creation, the bass is 'audible' but the bass isn't really 'present'; if that makes sense. When I say present I'm referring to being able to feel the bass, not just hear it.

ramon.

can i frame this holy shit hahaha

"Yeah but I mean I don't really listen to bands like Revocation for crazy innovation. It's not that kind of music and that's OK. It's just awesome death/thrash."

agree so hard but at the same time, everything about this record makes me want to jam any revo album that isn't this one

Like if you listen to Severed Survival the bass is both present and audible but the problem with that is the guitars could be louder too imo. But its simply an EQ setting on the bass mix. What they're doing here on this Revocation album is lowering the 'bass' EQ on the actual bass instrument itself.

Consistently boring

They’re close to putting out something good but if you haven’t sold me after your seventh album, you probably never will

i kinda liked this but it's not as good as teratogenesis or deathless

feel like they've kinda settled into making the same song over an over again after deathless which is a bit weird since that album was actually pretty varied

Used to dig this band a lot back in the days but they don't interest me very much anymore. They're insane live though I'll give them that

Great to see so much discussion in this thread :] Also couldn't agree more with DarkHorizontal's comments.

Love this album, however I agree that Deathless is better. Their best and most diverse effort to date imo, and also the record that got me into this band.

Edit: Although I think I rated both a 4 lol.
