If Post-Hardcore is your main jam just go straight to Artist in the Ambulance, that album did as much for the genre as pretty much any other album out there.

But TBH, as a massive Thrice fanboy their entire disco is pretty damn good. .. except this album I guess.

If they are going for this sound from now on (which clearly seems to be the case) I wish they'd make more like Call it in the Air..

Album is great, I really don't get some of the early backlash that it's getting around here. It's way more experimental and interesting than their last 2 albums combined, and it kept me hooked from beginning to end.

You say experimental, I say uninspired. I will finish this tomorrow but 3/4 the way through there's absolutely nothing here that even comes close to something like Hurricane.

I'm just really sad to see Dustin's lyrics regress so much. Cliche after cliche, lots of mindless repetition... As this review says, it's hard to remember this was the same guy who wrote the Alchemy Index sonnets.

The chorus of Beyond the Pines is a glimpse of his former glory as a lyricist. Beautiful poetry, there.

Lyrics wise, Black Honey might be one of my favorite songs of all time.

And agree on Just Breathe, the mix of the air vocals and the riffs work so weirdly well together. And those female vocals. Damn.

Those female vocals are horrendous and the song would be much better without them

Never knew Thrice was a Christian band... never been the biggest fan but have enjoyed the majority of their work. Can't believe I never picked up on it.

if they took their time and waited until they wrote the 5 best tbeitbn and palms song each and released it on an album i'd probably 5 it but both are highly inconsistent as they are and it makes me think twice about listening to a full album

That's something I've always admired, despite being atheist. Dustin's lyrics were always so poetic and beautiful, they could be interpreted in many ways and he never tried to overtly shove it in anyone's face.
