Yup. It's no Arbiter but it sounds good so far.

Hot damn Just Breathe is fantastic. Idk that song just does it for me in a way that Thrice hasn't capture in a while.

Probably one of their better tracks from the post Beggars era, it's brilliant.

All I gotta say is I have no idea how anyone can say this is more generic than what they've been doing for the last couple albums. M/M and TBEITBN are so straight forward compared to this.

I mean it's still rock and everything but they do way more interesting things here than they've done in a while.

The last two tracks are the only ones that actually live up to the standards that Thrice have consistently built for themselves. The rest of the album ranges from decent but forgettable to downright fucking horrible. Their last album was also a disappointment and this has me worried about their future.

Hold Up A Light reminds me of Rise Against's soul.

Oh it certainly has major weak spots. Hold Up A Light is straight butt rock, the chorus of A Branch In The River is not half as cool as it wants to be, etc... But I actually feel like they're TRYING things on this album instead of just writing The Grey 10 different ways (which I was worried about when that was the first single).

Agreed but this album is definitely woke enough to bounce on our ears for years

Not really. The overall sound of the album is very Earth/Air and Beggars

This might be the first Thrice album I didn't even bother to finish.

So boring. Sigh.

I recommend finishing it just for the last two tracks.

It depends on what you want out of the band, but I'd honestly recommend just doing a discography run because every album shows the band constantly evolving. If you want more like Firebreather, go for Vheissu, Fire, and TBEITBN. Some of Artist is a little reminiscent of that sound too
