I would say it's a style of production that just throws in a ton of disparate elements while still sounding sleek and tight. Think something like "blazed" which sounds pretty minimal (esp compared to the Martin productions here) despite throwing together nearly a dozen drum sounds, multiple vocal styles, and four or five different instruments. There's a lot in the mix but it still sounds pretty stripped down

Killer review, really fuckin’ killer read, blows The Atlantic review out of the water.
That said, I’m gravely ignorant of Grande’s prior work, so as to pinpoint Brostep’s arguments, during a listen of this album.
