every single was just a tremendous cringefest so zero hope for this. extremely contrived attempt to gain some relevance.

This album is cringe personified. So is Patty Walters. I say they kick him out of the band and let their guitarist sing, he actually has a good voice.

patty has a good voice that kinda has no personality to it yea but to most of their fans he’s basically the appeal to the group

Didn't this band only get big because of Patty's stint as a YouTuber to begin with?

My main issue with the album is that it feel really forced and preachy. Yes, mental health is an important issue and this concept album is an challenging undertaking; but lyrics like "we have failed our ancestors, ourselves and the future inhabitants of the wounded world" is just cringe worthy and does the album no favors but put a sour taste in my mouth. What does the message really mean when we know it's context? It's not like As It Is are branching out to a new fanbase. If anything it's alienating their fans from their last album Okay which was a "forced happiness" concept album. That being said, Patty Walters still writes catchy hooks and the less preachy songs (however few they are) really work. I mean, As It Is have always been an over-dramatic pop punk band.. their debut was called "Never Happy, Ever After" and had songs like "Can't Save Myself" after all.
