Both are satisfying and go in different musical directions, but I'm not gonna lie I've been digging that one a little more than this.
They certainly have changed, Fen of Shadows and The Vault are impressive. I can see the band getting some new fans due to the new album and sound.

I still need to jam that Skeletonwitch, the little I heard got me pumped.
|

It is indeed very good, but obviously a different approach compared to this album or Witch's previous stuff.
Been meaning to make a write-up for it these days, I'm kinda amazed that it hasn't been reviewed yet and it still has a solid 4/5 average with 53 votes on this site. Whoa.

| |
Yeah, I am not gonna touch that one. I am not that familiar with them and I would probably end up writing smth close to this one. Give it a shot Ripp, I will proofread it if you need to.

Thanks man.
Still surprised with the album's average. I mean, for a modern metal album on this site, that's a special feature I guess...
We're not talking about Vektor either.

Goddamn, that Skeletonwitch album rips.
|
| |
Need to jam this and the new 'witch album
|

Dude, holy smokes, that new Skeletonwitch album is great so far. Got 4 tracks in and am definitely digging their new direction a ton. Will always be a fan of Beyond the Permafrost and even the newer, Serpents Unleashed, but the new stuff is m/

^ Couldn't agree more with this comment.
Really dig the lengthier tracks, and the more I listen to the faster, short numbers the more I hear some resemblance to 2011's Forever Abomination imo.
I'll try to post my review tomorrow.

Awesome man, looking forward to reading it!

Now that I can put this side to side with the Skeletonwitch one, I think the latter has better moments but I kinda prefer this one as a whole.

Why are we comparing them? I just noticed. Did they come out at the same time? Time moves so fast around here & I forget.
While I'm here the answer is Skeletonwitch > this
|
| |
Yeah Demon, one week of difference if I remember correctly, 2 big thrash releases, so we were talking about it around that time.
|
| |
Love this band, but I totally forgot about this album. Thought it was bland upon first listen, so I'll recheck.
Yeah I think they came around the same time, and they're both like "new" thrash bands so I think it makes sense to compare.
|
| |
I like this band and thought this was bland as well, and also agree I need to recheck as well. Dig this band's sound but not really any of their albums in full.

Yeah I know what you mean. Gets a bit long and samey after a while.

It’s very homogeneous, I guess you need to be in the mood (& honestly I’ve not revisited this since soon after the release).
|
| |
This has been brought up previously, but the production on this sucks too
edit: Same avatar and profile pic, and you dare to call something homogeneous???
edit [2]: Nvm you simply reversed them

This album kinda grew off me during the last listening if I recall correctly. As far as balls out thrash metal released this year goes, I've been digging the new Deathhammer more than this tbh, but I'll revisit this album soon, for sure.
