"Just checked the wiki for Sabbat and they have 48 live albums m/"
They're another one of those odd bands like Domine where they released a bunch of demo material for many years prior to ever releasing a full-length debut.
"I am honestly scared and thrilled about the idea of checking them out."
The Dwelling is a bit much to introduce someone to Sabbat with. I'd recommend Karisma as it retains a lot of the long-form composition that Sabbat had begun to write along with some of the lushest harmonies you'll probably ever hear on a black/thrash release. A real achievement and one of their best.

As much as I appreciate some of the guitar intricacies and layers, this album is a bit of a disappointment for me. Too little variation in pace/rhythm, too much of the continuous mid-boosted wall of sound, and not enough thrash...

Good review my man, pos. I've been following these dudes since their debut, but have always found their albums to be really inconsistent in quality from start to finish. They have written some absolute rippers that I still jam quite often, but as a whole have never really enjoyed an entire album of theirs. I'm curious how this one compares, but based on your review it sounds like this album is more consistent and a step in the right direction

Yeah Plazz, they definitely left a lot of the thrashy prog in their debut and went for a compact, unified sound. But you are right, looots of mid tones.
Tx Dungeon, I personally like more the blackened influence on this one but it will turn you off if your favourite is their first album.
