I don't. The writer basically surmises that Florence and the Machine isn't meant to work with space, and that they should have let ballads be ballads and anthems be anthems. What a dumb point of view to have. This album is an unfurling of her artistic freedom, and it flows through various ups and downs to match the confessional stories that she pens. The line near the end Welch sounds content and resigned is flat out wrong too. To me the whole review just reads like the stubborn resistance of someone who wants his/her band to stay the same, and not take the next practical step in their evolution towards something more meaningful and artistic. I'd venture to say that this record reaches Radiohead levels of arty progression at times, which is a vast improvement on the formulas she's shown us on her other three albums.

Yeah, you should stop being a writer. You suck, dude. You're not on Plane or Chan's level so why bother? just fucking fade away already.

Man there's been a lot of extra stupidity floating around lately. Must be that the middle school children are on summer vacation.

I made an account here just to say I agree with your review (if not the score; perfect scores are very rare to me) since you seem to be getting some flak, and that this reminds me of Joanna Newsom's Have One on Me. They are very, very formally different (and this is a third of the length) but their pleasures are the same -- earthy, subtle, emergent. That line in "June" gets me too.

I don't know why everyone seems to not like it but I think it's one of the best of the year. There is something else, raw and dark, pulsing through this album -- it comes through most clearly on the End of Love, but I love that the whole thing builds to that song. It's very cohesive.

Wow Sowing. A 5 eh? Her last album was pretty middle of the road, wasn't expecting much from this.

You won't 5 this Gyro, if I had to guess, but you will enjoy it. It's her quietest effort yet but it's also her best artistically; extremely smooth, intricate, and creative.

I think it's her best album to date, and I 5'd Ceremonials. If you're a casual fan this won't strike quite as hard but I recommend it regardless. My current AOTY if I had to guess. Also it's a huge grower so if on first listen you're not sold don't fret.

oh this is growing on me bigtime. I've never actually listened to Lungs or Ceremonials in full but I love her voice and general melodrama, even if the last one was pretty uneven. But Grace is hitting me hard, and I've already expressed my thoughts on The End of Love...

Also, I think the Pitchfork review is actually pretty good even if I disagree. Those are valid critiques to make. But yeah Sowing, not that that troll mattered to you, but you're an incredible writer and one of the best parts of this falling-apart website. Keep on keepin' on.

ty Project, means a lot! let me know if this continues to grow and what tracks stand out to you...I adore it so I'm looking for people to discuss this with considering it's a possible AOTY for me.

Yeah as time goes on that song just gets better.

The orchestral part in the middle that breaks up the soul vibes is incredible too.
