I think his schtick is also getting old quick. First album was a surprise, it was a hot mess but I liked it a lot. This one is much better produced and fleshed out. But another record with the same formula and I dont know man.

yeah Ship on Fire is awesome. The genre-blend is pretty well done in most places, I don't really see this as a bad combination of two genres that don't fit. Funny how this music fits the black metal theme even better.

This is music that really needs to click. For me it did at second or third listen and it has been near the top of my year charts for months now. It's just so fresh. It helps that the band delivers on all fronts live and was the best concert of the year I've attended.

Yeah, a 3 to a 3.5 is about what I'd expect for this album from you on first listen. It's not for everyone and is definitely pretty all over the place. Not that you can't handle stuff that's all over the place, but it's a different kind of all over the place. Definitely one that requires digestion time and seconds.
