They did play it when I watched them last year. It was awful in a live setting, good one to leave out imo. The title track also made zero sense played live.

I'd be so pissed if they played most of the songs from this and left off Destroy You. Such an amazing track and the melody seems like it would be a hit live, with that chorus. I dunno.
Also this album has sneakily become tied with HV as my favorite National. Is that blasphemy?

hv is so damn boring outside of like 3 rly good songs. same with this. their two weakest albums imo, not counting their first 2. nothing can touch alligator, boxer, and trouble

Alligator would be my #3, Boxer is the only one that bores me. It might have something to do with the fact that HV was the first album I heard by these guys, so I associate them with the sleepy vibes and heartbroken murmers.

This was my first National and I ended up going backwards through their discog. Boxer took the longest to grow on me but it edges closer to a 5 every time I hear it.

This one slowly became my second favorite National album.

Trouble is the only National record I love this decade, their best for me.

Trouble is among their best for sure. Can’t decide if Trouble or HV is their best, they switch places often

HV is gonna remain best of the decade and this will be like fourth or fifth best. Unless 2019 produces a modern classic, who knows.

I love “I’ll Still Destroy You” but wouldn’t call it one of my favorites here, it doesn’t hit me in the feels quite like a lot of the others do.

yeah idk, i came around to this album but a lot of times when i put it on it's just meh. can't be bothered listening to all of it, only a few tracks. same applies to hv though, which is the most overrated album on sputnik

Dark Side of the Gym and Destroy You are my two favs

The top tier for me is “Dark Side of the Gym” (one of their very best ever), “Day I Die”, and “Guilty Party”, those are the 5/5s. The rest fill out the album at a pretty equal level of amazing with “Turtleneck” being the only distinctly weaker one.

Dark Side of the Gym and Day I Die are my next favorites, although I'll throw in Guilty Party and the t/t as deserving of being in the same tier. Damn this is getting dangerously close to being as good as High Violet. I honestly don't know which is my #1 National.
