Amazing review, want to pos but can't for some reason. Also lol at the summary, how have I not seen that used here before? No opinions on the album, don't give a fuck about Dimmu, barely listened to anything they've done.

You can’t vote on contrib/staff reviews. It’s just how it is

@Dimorphic: They have some fun material if you're willing to suspend your disbelief.

@Nocte: Half the reason I post reviews is to spark a discussion. I always valued new comments more than upvotes.

Haven't heard this yet but feel like most people are prob not even giving it a chance tbh. This band is just cool to hate.

Either way will jam and see for myself. m/

I'll always have a soft spot for Dimmu Borgir. They were one of the first metal bands I heard and got into, right around the same time I discovered Children of Bodom, Emperor and In Flames, who basically spearheaded my introduction to extreme metal.

Yeah these guys and Cradle were how I got into bm, which I'd imagine is the case for a lot of people. Still love all of their stuff except Abrahadabra. Hopefully I'll dig this. m/

If I have be completely honest, it's better than ISD and Abra.

But yeah, the mind thirsts for blastbeats.

I Am Sovreign and Alpha Omega are the best songs they've out out in years.

Considering the quality level of the songs in ISD and Abrahadabra, that's not an impressive achievement. The only cool songs in those two records were "The Serpentine Offering" and "Gateways". "Born Treacherous" was nice too. I'll give it a spin however when I have time, but I'm not expecting much tbh...

Easily better than Abrahadabra. Also, the two singles they released are the worst songs on this album, really odd/misleading choices for what to expect with this quality wise. I lost hope for this band several albums ago so this was a pleasant surprise after their more recent output.

@Clansman: I thought "Chess with the Abyss" was fun.
