I've got 20 bucks that says J dog had lured the pair of youth's depicted on the cover into his apartment and tried his way before they were left them with no choice but to leap from a 2nd story balcony (as opposed to a 1st story balcony), and risk shattering their pelvises (playing into his hand perhaps???)

I think it's okay to discuss the band and their music. After all, they're an important part of many lives.

I mean, yeah, sure Jesse has done some really shitty and disgusting things but on the scale of things he doesn't quite rank with building a whole goddamn amusement park just to lure little children to sleep with.

We all love angsty music until we learn what the angst is about. I have no qualms listening to Burzum, I have no qualms listening to Brand New. You're allowed to separate the art from the artist, or allow yourself the mental maturity to relate to someone who has done awful things without condoning the awful things themselves.

Yeah I guess but you could also not financially support horrible people by buying or streaming their music which only encourages them to believe their behavior is acceptable enough to remain successful. Especially Burzum, idk how you can listen to him if you’re aware of how much of a racist delusional cock he is and probably always has been. There’s enough amazing music available where I won’t lose sleep not listening to a few albums made by shitbags.

the difference with brand new in comparison to burzum is the that no one knew anything about jesse’s actions prior to getting into his music cos it was only revealed like less than half a year ago, while a lot of burzum fans already knew about his actions going into their work. its kind of different first knowing about an artist because of their problematic behavior or finding out about that when discovering the band, than having a member of a longtime personal favorite being outed for such behavior, not because of the severity of the act but because the difficulty of a fan giving up their work

imagine denying yourself the joys of listening to peste noire because you can't separate art from artist

Guys, like seriously, just because a frontman did something really wrong, doesn't the album sucks. If that's so, then why don't you write a shit review about Thriller or Bad?(Talk about fucking logics nowadays)

Sure, you cannot separate art from artist, as I knew plenty of musicians used their personal experiences into their art, especially in the emo genre. But that is not a definite equal to it, and you can just simply relate that music to yourself.

What I think that what is really sad, is that Science Fiction is a real brilliant one, yet the reputation of it was ruined by publications and (surprise, surprise) internet trolls who simply deny the brilliance of their work, in order to respect and defend the mental state of the victims, and, for the publications, their own reputation as well.(Tut, tut, #MeToo Movement)Me myself also believed that no one should get the treatment like the girls or any sexual harassment victims, but that doesn't mean you should despise the artist like treating them like piece of shits.

If you don't want to be a fan of Brand New or listen to their songs, that's your choice. The bottom line is that don't attack them maliciously.

Album is stunning. I think "kiddy fiddler" is a little misleading. What he did was gross. But it's not like he's Ian Watkins. He was young (early 20s) and the girls were all 15 and above, which in some countries is legal (not that I think it should be by any means). There are degrees of wrongness, and Lacey's isn't so extreme that I can't still enjoy his music. It's worth acknowledging also that he spent years in therapy treating his sex addiction. If I was more of a fan of the band in general though, I can imagine being quite distraught by this.

I guess you will get many nasty comments by many Moonwalkers (aka Michael Jackson fans, just in case you don't know) then if you do write one.

By the way, I also agree Lacey's act is not to a disturbing extreme, as I know that he just ask the girls for nudes and watch him masturbate, not like some assholes say that he slept with minors. (Still reprehensible though) I even dare to say that I would forgive him because of his apology in the band's Facebook page, as he admit that he himself did try to fix his addiction, despite that it is not very clear about which case. Keep in mind, that many of those who are accused don't even admit their mistakes at all. (Take Bill Cosby, Ian Watkins and MJ for example)
