Sowing, their best? This is a low 2.0.
13th Step > MDN (loses due to consistency) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> their other stuff

13th Step > MDN > EtE > emotive
I really don’t see how they could be ranked differently. This is really what it is, though I do buy people switching 13th and MDN. I may not agree, but I get it.

Agreed Larkin.
13th Step is one of my favorite rock albums of the past few decades.

both beautiful albums beyond extent, but for me MDN was the 12th step...only one little step behind 13th tho

I really wish I could see what you guys liked about this thing
As basically a mainstream rock band with a hook driven approach, 55 year old Maynard is just not delivering here and the band doesn’t make up for it with anything interesting unlike the recent tool album.
I loved the first two from these guys so I periodically try to give it a chance but it’s god awful

yeah idk I feel like this shouldn’t of gotten as much hate as it did, it’s by no stretches amazing but it’s not bad at all

New tool album is great musically. Billy does a pretty good job here, but hook driven alt rock without the hooks or vocal passion just doesn’t work. It also sounds like Maynard is going for a totally different aesthetic than billy on a lot of these songs and it’s jarring

Wow. I mean, it’s very good, but 13th Step and Mer de Noms are incredible.

I kind of agree. The best songs seem to be those, where Billy had the biggest impact on the songwriting

Larkin dude i really do dig this. Mer De Noms and 13th Step both have songs that I despise. Both are great albums overall though, obviously.

Yeah it’s a damn good album man. Feathers, Hourglass, By and Down the River, t/t, Disillusioned...might have to listen again. Been a few months.

Speaking of which my Alt Rock slice is showing again on my piechart (not a pie anymore I know). Soon will be gone I sense!

I enjoy this to an extent but it doesn't touch 13th step, never mind Mer de noms.

Does anyone feel like the choruses on this should be the verses? Disillusioned throws me off every single time. So jarring.

I guess 13th Step was lightning in a bottle. I would rather have never had another APC album then to have this. I haven't cringed so hard at lyrics in my life. Every song is just tacky as hell. Sounds like the diary of a high school emo kid who just discovered metaphors for the first time. Not one song idea is even interesting. I'm pissed at the fans for liking this. What the hell did you even like about the band's sound? Melodramatic minor key fluff? I always thought there was something deeper than that to APC. Throw in the most laughably goddamn awful artwork you've ever seen, and you got yourself a dumpster fire.
