Oddly enough I think that song should be significantly longer. That section in the middle "I'm half crazy / it keeps me awake" could have gone on forever and I'd have been stoked.

Nah, it has a perfect length. Main reason why it's working is in the way song progresses, extending this moment would make song's structure and sound get messy

Saw them last night in Boulder. As usual, they blew the damn doors off. This band is so tight live.

I think he tried to guarantee he wouldn't be able to sing this stuff in five years when he wrote it.

TBH he's been iffy with certain notes when I've seen him before. But for some reason when I caught them live partway through last year, he hit some INSANELY long & high notes and it blew everyone away

He's been doing very good live since Sonder dropped and there is a definite improvement from the Polaris days, although he had some good streaks there too (mid 2016 to late 2017 shows were kinda hit and miss imo). I think he's worked out how to get the best out of his voice wihtout tiring it down

I think Dan and Ashe wrote many many lines that were too difficult for them to perform them live consistently. It's like they're just a little too high for them most of the time

I think Ashe is much more guilty of this issue than Dan. Dan can perform basically everything from Sonder right now. Even Juno sounded very close to the studio version, so i can't really agree there. If we were talking about One-era Dan, then that would be true

I was more thinking about Polaris than Sonder tbh, but it's true, Ashe is a lot more guilty of that

Got to see Ashe perform during their big Altered State tour and it certainly was an effort for him to hit each note.

I really couldn't fault him though because his contribution to that album is heavenly

This might be nice tbh, it's also a Saturday, so it's pretty convenient. It would be a good opportunity to check out The Hirsch Effekt, too. Nice, I'll look for a ticket tomorrow
