"BB as per usual, Tourniquet is cool but Torn In Two and Blood literally have the same intro XD
Band needs to change it up next album or they're gonna become the next nickelback once the nostalgia goggles come off people. Also can we set up some sort of breaking benjamin bingo with words they keep using?
hate, pain, hope, fail, dark, nothing, sick, tired, love, fear,"
Agreed on all points, bud.

If you've heard one Breaking Benjamin song, you've heard them all.
Putting out the same song 60 times is a cool way to make money though.

I agree to a point their songs stick close to one formula, but I dunno, maybe it's just nostalgia, but their older work wasn't quite as formulaic as the last two records.
The band's in a dire need of a shake up. I'm curious to know who wrote "The Dark of You".

Ben and Jasen both wrote it

Did they write the whole record together, toon?

nah not the whole record. From what I understand there's only a couple of track that Ben wrote on his own, almost everything else had the band jumping in on the songwriting process.

man, really surprised by that

Ben has always seemed like a control-freak type asshole tbh. Explains why his output the last couple of albums has been especially stale.

I think the review is a bit of an overkill. It's unmistakably Breaking Benjamin for sure, but it has an identity of its own in the discography imo. I dig how it's their most aggressive front to back but somehow their catchiest too.
By the way Close Your Eyes reminds me so much of Korn's Prey for Me that I can't unsee it. I guess you could make the argument for Psycho/Coming Undone intro too. Heck if you are feeling particularly nitpicky you could even say that Torn in Two/Blood remind you of groovy riffs like Justin and Mass Hysteria. Not to mention the Korn-ish bass presence in some songs

Totally understand where you're come from. It's fair. But two points of disagreement that are going to make your eyes roll:
1) I actually listen to Breaking Benjamin for the lyrics, opaque as they are.
2) BB has changed--at least Ben has--in the lyrical themes present from Saturate and WANA to now.

I'm thinking about writing a review along those lines, and letting the chips fall where they may. God have a mercy on my soul.

I have some constructive feedback. While I understand where the reviewer is coming from, I felt the review read a little too aggressive and prudish. Personally I'd love it if the the reviewer dialed it back a bit.

^Agreed, some angst could be held back a little

There were parts of this album i was very happy with but overall, i was expecting more. Some changes to the typical BB formula would have been refreshing

Disagree hard with the rating. This is a very well above average album. This is the mecca of mainstream hard rock.
